01. During my time at BBC London 94.9, the station achieved its highest ever audience number (Q4 2008). Something that made me very proud of the team.

Justin Kings (aka newsleader) enjoys a unique career within news and speech radio, with 20 years experience working in commercial and public service broadcasting.

After freelance news reading, heard on stations such as Radio Luxembourg and Virgin Radio, his first break came at market leading BRMB in Birmingham where he anchored the evening news programme.

In 1995, Justin landed a dream job at the world famous Capital Radio London, working on the award winning and critically acclaimed nightly magazine ‘The Way It Is’.

He spent almost 12 years at Capital London, latterly as News Editor and Group News Editor, serving a total weekly audience of over 16 million people.

At the end of 2006, Justin accepted a role at the BBC overseeing news and programming at its radio station for London, BBC London 94.9. This was a role in a tri-media newsroom working alongside TV and on-line. In his two years there, he facilitated news training sessions for BBC Local Radio journalists and the BBC’s Safeguarding Trust course.

During his time at the BBC, Justin was also Chair of the London Media Emergency Forum – a group of print and broadcast editors who make media policy recommendations to the London Government Department and the Cabinet Office.

As well as his news and speech experience, he has also presented and produced entertainment and music programmes for stations including Capital Radio, BBC London 94.9, Century Radio and Xfm

In all, Justin has won 5 Sony Radio Academy Awards and he has been a judge three times.
